This painting started out as a preparation for a mural, then morphed into the star of the show. I loved the challenge of working bigger. Stepping into taking up more space and feeling powerful doing so. This piece is huge and it’s a physical experience working this big. Moving the brush and dancing with your whole body the get the image to emerge.
Being up so close it feels you are inside it then stepping back feels as if looking into the window of another world.
There’s so much hidden in the depths, a slow unraveling of fine detail combined with bold painterly brush strokes that built over many moons. The intersection between reality and imaginary is where I like to dwell. A dream landscape within my mind that I hope connects with the stories of others.
